Holidays at Haus Maria – holidays with us, the Kaplenig Family!
The Kaplenig Family … that’s Heidi, Josef and Brigitte.
Heidi:
Heidi has been looking after the well-being of all the guests visiting Haus Maria for almost 50 years now.
With a smile on her face, she serves breakfast and provides guests with numerous stories and information about all the places worth seeing in Bad Kleinkirchheim and throughout Carinthia. In addition, Heidi takes care of the large garden. She will always remain “the heart of the Haus Maria team” and has made Haus Maria a second home for many guests over the years.
Josef:
After his professional training to become a golf pro, Josef decided to follow in his parents’ footsteps and take over the apartment house in Seeboden at Lake Millstätter See, Haus Elisabeth. But he is also part of the Haus Maria team. All repairs in and around the house are carried out professionally by him. And he is significantly involved in the garden design together with Heidi.
Brigitte:
In 2007, Brigitte took over her parents’ bed and breakfast in Bad Kleinkirchheim. Since then, she has been trying to continue the tradition of Carinthian hospitality that her parents lived by. Together with her mother Heidi, she takes care of the physical well-being of the guests. She speaks English and Italian and therefore takes special care of the non-German speaking guests of Haus Maria. In addition, the reception is one of Brigitte’s fields of activity. She is responsible for enquiries, bookings and the internet business and ensures that all guests start their vacation day well informed.
A brief history of Haus Maria
In 1976, Heidi and Josef Kaplenig decided to take the big step towards independence together. In June of that year, the young couple welcomed their first guests to Haus Maria. With their small and nice bed and breakfast, the two were able to turn their passion into a profession and start their own tourism business.
From the very beginning, they attached great importance to personal and comprehensive guest service. Haus Maria was soon able to welcome many regular guests.
Even now that Brigitte and Josef are managing the bed and breakfast in Bad Kleinkirchheim and the apartment house in Seeboden respectively, Heidi is still available to the younger generation with advice and action.
Over the past years, extensive renovation measures have been carried out.
In 2010, the entire exterior facade was renovated. With these thermal restoration works (thermal insulation and triple glazed windows), a big step was taken in the direction of energy saving and resource protection. In addition, all guest rooms were completely refurbished.
In 2012, the parking lot was asphalted and the rear entrance was redesigned.
From 2013 to 2017, all bathrooms were gradually renovated.
After completing the redesign of all guest rooms, the ski room was renovated in autumn 2017.
Since autumn 2018, all guest rooms have new soundproof fire-protection doors.
And finally, at the end of 2019, the entire staircase was renovated (new floor, new lighting).
In 2020 and 2021, the basement area was redesigned (tiling, lighting) and the breakfast kitchen and the breakfast buffet were newly equipped.
2022 and 2023 were all about the redesign of the entrance area and the ground floor.
2024 was all about good sleep. All guest rooms have been equipped with new mattresses, encasings and new bedding.
And further projects are about to be realised …
